If you want to be up to speed with the latest happenings in town, just pay a visit to the tourist office located at Calle Carretera 1. On top of that, there is also an info point open at the Torre Guzman from mid-June to mid-September (Their website is also available in English for opening hours and further useful info). In any case, we wanted to bring to your attention number of popular events and festivities that are held in Conil and celebrated by Conileños annually:

  • Romería de San Sebastián (Sunday closest to the 20th of January) – Pilgrimage commemorating the local patron which also involves lot of singing, dancing Sevillanas, eating and drinking;)
  • Carnaval (February/March) – Colourful event full of action which takes place over number of days
  • Semana Santa (March/April) – Holy week ending just before Easter Sunday is THE event drawing huge crowds in Andalucia, Conil not being any exception. It is truly unique and amazing experience to observe various processions, brass bands and groups of Nazarenos wearing penitential robes and face concealing hoods walking through the town.
  • Cruces de Mayo (First week of May) – Each year, locals enter into competitions for the best-decorated crosses and the best creations are awarded with prizes.
  • Feria de Primavera de El Colorado (First week of June) – A festival celebrating passing of seasons, with focus on countryside and local produce.
  • Hogueras de San Juan (Night of 23 June) – Night full of partying, huge beach bonfires and fireworks.
  • Ruta del Atun “Almadraba” (10 May-10 June 2013) – this spectacular and unique event which Conil is hosting celebrates fresh tuna fish caught using traditional trapping technique. Throughout the month-long period, the local restaurants serve delicious tuna-based dishes at economical prices.
  • Virgen del Carmen (16th July) – This festival centres around an important aspect of life in Conil – fishing and celebrates the patron saint of fishermen and involves processions on the sea as well as in town.
  • Feria y Fiestas de Nuestra Señora de las Virtudes (around 8 September) –  Festival held over the period of nine days in honour of the patron saint of Conil which is marked by various processions, funfairs and fireworks.
  • Fiestas de Navidad, Año Nuevo y Tres Reyes  – Annual Christmas and New Year festivities
